Attend SXSW 2020 Film Festival Collection Virtually

This year’s cancellation of South by Southwest, Austin’s premier film and music festival, was a huge blow for the city and the thousands of artists, filmmakers, musicians and attendees that make it world renowned. However, there is a bright spot in all the recent uncertainty. Amazon Prime Video is partnering with SXSW to rescue this year’s film portion of the festival by offering a virtual collection of films that were scheduled to debut. The details are still being worked out. But it looks like the 10-day SXSW 2020 Film Festival Collection will happen later this month. The admission price for U.S. audiences is free on Amazon Prime Video. You won’t need a Prime Membership but you will need an Amazon free account to view the films. Stay tuned for the exact dates.

Get into a Documentary

Whether it’s the subject, the life-story of a famous person, a true crime scene, or a life-defining event, in-depth documentaries are as historical and informative as they are inspirational. And let’s not forget their entertainment aspect. They can also be funny, somber, weird and sometimes unbelievable. However through chronicled photographs, interviews, historical footage and pre-recorded audio, documentaries reel us in. According to the entertainment website Collider, both Netflix and Amazon Prime are currently offering a multitude of titles everyone can sink their teeth into. You’ll never want to leave your home media room when you know Games of Thrones is on the screen. For devoted fans of this HBO drama series that follow the storylines of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire this suggestion may seem like a no brainer. Frankly, it’s difficult not to want to watch it again and again. The popular series set in the medieval period has everything a good drama should have. Its cornerstone is intelligent writing. But it also employs action, romance, suspense and revenge. There are also dragons and wars, too. Its eight-year stint, some say, was short-lived. If you are already going through withdrawals HBO has an offer you may not be able to refuse. Or, you can purchase a Collector’s Edition and watch it anytime you want.
