Fourth of July hometown celebrations are as apple pie as the national holiday itself. From food to live music to parades and spectacular firework displays there’s no shortage of opportunities for fun at these celebrations in what has become one of America’s most cherished holiday. At the heart of every celebration is hometown community pride. To make your planning easier we rounded up an A-list of star-spangled all-American Independence Day celebrations in some of our favorite Austin area cities the entire family will enjoy. Cedar Park 4th of July Parade and Celebration
The city kicks off its annual holiday tradition with a local parade at 10 a.m. It starts at the Cedar Park Recreation Center makes it way down Discovery Boulevard then ends at the HEB Center. But if you’re looking for more ways to celebrate make your way to the city’s Elizabeth Milburn Park at 4 p.m. There’s a multitude of free evening activities planned such as a washer tournament, bingo, live music, bounce houses, laser tag, and fireworks. Fees apply to food concessions and carnival rides and games.
43rd Annual HEB Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks
This granddaddy of them all iconic Independence Day celebration begins at 8 p.m. at Auditorium Shores in Town Lake Park, 900 W. Riverside. This free event features arts and crafts, food, drinks, family fun, and a live concert performed by Texas’ oldest performing art group. The Austin Symphony Orchestra takes center stage at 7 p.m. Patriotic hymns, marches and a breathtaking fireworks display against the backdrop of the city’s skyline follows at 9:45 p.m. A grand ending to a perfect day.
July 4th Frontier Days Celebration
The City of Round Rock rolls out the welcome mat for hometown folks as well as visitors alike beginning at 9 a.m. with the Sertoma July 4th Parade. The 1.5 mile route begins in the downtown area at Mays Crossing. Awards are given for the best floats in nine different categories. Additional highlights include giant helium inflatables, marching bands, music, local groups, and a ton of hometown fun. With two venues this annual celebration gets bigger every year. For a full day of free fun head down to Old Settler’s Park after the parade. Festivities begin at noon. The patriotic celebration includes carnival rides, a jalapeno eating contest, free watermelon, pig races, children’s games, a Sam Bass Shootout reenactment, a cowboy sing-a-long, a movie in the park, and much more. Leander Liberty Fest 2019
The city of Leander honors the national holiday with a free family celebration with live music, food, vendors, children’s activities, and a spectacular fireworks show. This year’s Liberty Fest takes place east of the ACC San Gabriel Campus. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m. Fireworks follow at 9:25 p.m.
The city of Pflugerville’s annual 4th of July celebration features a variety of free family-friendly activities. This year it takes place at the Pflugerville Stadium-The Pfield, 1440 W. Pecan Street. It begins at 5 p.m. with food trucks and a free kid’s play area located outside Gate D. The stadium gates open at 6 p.m. Popular musical cover band Suede takes the stage from 6:30-8:45 p.m. The mayor’s welcome and fireworks follow.
36th Annual Sertoma Club Family July 4th Celebration
The Sertoma Club of Georgetown along with help from the city sponsor this annual tradition. Located in beautiful San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St., the parade kicks off at 11 a.m. near the College Street Bridge. Parade participation is encouraged. Kids wear your favorite patriotic costume, decorate your wagon or bike and join in on all the fun. This all-day-to-evening free event features other activities like arts and crafts booths, beverage and food vendors, kid’s games and activities, live music, a petting zoo, and a grand finale fireworks display.
Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic
As a local hometown hero country music icon Willie Nelson brings his legendary style to the stage of the Circuit of Americas. He brings with him some of the finest musicians in the business like Luke Combs, Ray Wylie Hubbard, the Raelyn Nelson Band, Nathaniel Ratcliff & the Night Sweats, Johnny Bush, and many more. Music begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available online.
