Food Trucks Roll into Travisso for Weeknight Dinner Options

Let’s face it, who doesn’t like a good food truck? Deliciously prepared meals from a roadside truck just seems to taste better. Also known as convenience meals on wheels, food trucks are taking on a whole different role during the COVID-19 pandemic. While they are still providing yummy meals, it’s their locations and clientele that has changed. Pre-pandemic Austin area food trucks lined downtown city streets and office business parks. Today, they’re finding semi-permanent parking spaces in suburban communities like Travisso.

Lifestyle Director Candice Roy manages the food truck schedule for Travisso residents. She started the program in April to add an element of normalcy during the height of COVID-19. The food trucks provide quick weeknight meals. And also a welcome break for work-at-home parents juggling both a job and virtual learning. Plus, it allows residents to meet-up with neighbors they haven’t seen and give them a reason to leave their homes. According to Roy business is booming. Residents must pre-order to participate. Let’s eat!

Tuesday, August 11Peached Tortilla, 5-7:30 p.m. If you didn’t know that there is a Southern-Asian Fusion cusine then you haven’t eaten at the Peached Tortilla. This award-winning mobile eatery dishes up mouth-watering tacos and sliders. Owner Eric Silverstein melds together the best of both his worlds. He was born in Japan and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His fusion of both cuisines produces unique flavors and one-of-a-kind street food.

Wednesday, August 12Andrea’s Eats, 5-7 p.m. during the Savory Farmers’ Market. Owner Andrea Morris serves upscale Mexican street food with a huge smile. Her business tagline, “We want to feed your face and have you come back for more” is infectious. Usually the event dictates the menu. However, homemade Mexican staples such as Trashy Nachos and a variety of Street Tacos dominate the menu. For a winning combination add a side of roasted Mexican street corn (Elote).

Thursday, August 13Redfin Mobile Kitchen, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Seafaring types craving fresh seafood won’t be disappointed in the variety of menu offerings at Redfin Mobile. It features both shrimp and fish tacos, a fried catfish or shrimp basket, Gumbo cup, and Blackened RedFish Sandwich to name a few. Pair your meal with a side of Redfin’s Signature House French Fries. The taters are seasoned to perfection.
