5 Stylish Holiday Decor Trends to Use this Season

Design - Glory Spies - Nov 20, 2019

Holiday decorating is fun, exhausting, and oh so rewarding. Plus, when you’re finished you can sit back in awe and treat yourself to a big mug of spiked eggnog. This year whether you are decking your halls in grand style, or sprucing up your current decor, sharing the joy of your efforts with others is a huge payoff. But before you start the mad rush to complete your decorating to-do list, you’ll want to be up-to-date on this year’s trendiest decor. From adorning the fireplace mantel, to trimming the Christmas tree, and dressing up the front door this year’s trends offer an array of eclectic styles to incorporate in any home.

We know scouring websites on the latest holiday trends can be a major time investment. So as our gift to you this holiday season we did it for you. For some inspiration and awesomely festive decorating ideas to make your holiday extra merry and bright, here are five of our favorite 2019 trends.

Forever plaid

Though it seems that plaid has never quite gone out of style, this year it’s making a comeback in a big way. Plaid for the holidays is just about everywhere. If you are mad for plaid, or just want to use a hint of this year’s hottest trend look for ways to incorporate it with cozy throws, Sherpa blankets and pillows. Or, add plaid to your holiday tablescape with linens, dinnerware, plate chargers and candles. Make your home extra merry with plaid picture frames and stockings hanging from the fireplace. A plaid robe or shirt makes a great gift for that someone special in your life.

Glam it up with black and gold

Steer away from the traditional red and green color scheme and add sophistication to your holiday decor with black and gold. This ultra-elegant color combination also looks great with the color white. Mix it up using black and gold candle sticks, or gold ornaments in a black bowl. Black lanterns with gold-topped ribbons say welcome in an entrance way. For a super sleek nontraditional look gather black and gold lanterns in varying sizes and place them on your fireplace mantel. To complete the look add glowing candles and stringed white stars. Make your space one-of-a-kind by mixing and matching fabrics and accents that reflect your own personal taste.

Make it neutral

For a chic and contemporary look neutral is the way to go. It’s both simple and elegant at the same time. Achieve the look by pairing a simple tree with neutral colored ornaments like white, gray and beige. Use the same color scheme for vases, candle sticks and other decorations such as stars and small artificial Christmas trees in varying sizes. For an extra special touch add sprigs of eucalyptus–another hotter than hot trend for 2019. And it’s not just popular for the holiday season. Eucalyptus has been popping up in floral arrangements and home décor all year. Wrap gifts in brown kraft paper with festive tags, strings, and yarns. Place them under the tree to finish the look.

Trim your tree with food-themed ornaments

Back in summer when most of us were still sweltering in 100° weather Etsy was already predicting this year’s holiday trends. Our love of food most likely is the inspiration behind this one. Food-themed ornaments, greeting cards and home décor items are definitely in vogue this season. You’ll find an array of tasty favorites such as fast food assortments, sweet desserts, avocados, donuts, bagels and more in retail stores everywhere to express your inner foodie. For an aficionado on your X-mas list with a penchant for avocados an ornament gift set can be just what Santa ordered.

Celebrate with sparkle and shine

If there is one thing we know about trends it is that they come and go. But here’s the thing to remember—they come back. For example, just when we were getting comfortable living with less, this year the maximalist attitude is back in full grandeur. However, that doesn’t mean you should fill your room to the brim with stuff. It’s all about choosing subtle fine details to complement those things that are already there. Bring on the celebration with shiny sequins, glittering gemstones, metallic trays; silvery accents, candles and wreaths. Put your glam stamp on it and add to table settings, mantels, staircases, coffee and side tables, kitchen countertops and more.
