Local Area Events for Your June Fun-to-Do List

On your mark, get set, play. With summer just around the corner here’s our top June activities worth checking out this month. Mark your calendar today for these area events and festivals that are 100% guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face. From Leander to Cedar Park to Austin, Stonewall, and Johnson City here’s your ultimate June guide to summertime fun!

Bubblepalooza, June 1

Kids will have a blast immersing themselves in bubbles during Bubblepalooza. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the front lawn of the Long Center and officially kicks off the All Summer Long series of free Austin area community events. According to the event’s website this year’s activities include a rock climbing wall, food trucks, live music, trampolines, chalk art, giant bubble making wands, and so much more.

2nd Annual City of Leander Mason Days, June 1

Step back in time and into the shoes of early American pioneers at Leander’s Mason Homestead. This historic restored 1860s era farmhouse is situated on three and one-half acres. It was donated to the city of Leander by the granddaughter of Charles C. Mason. This informative free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Experience life as it was during this time period with demonstrations such as blacksmithing, rope making and rug hooking. There are also candle making, wood working, and bee keeping demos too. Activities for all ages, food, and fun.

Leander Way Off Broadway Community Players, May 31 through June 22

Take the family to Leander’s community theater to see Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward. This hilarious comedy made famous on both London and Broadway stages is a must-see. Performances are at 8 p.m. on weekends only. But, there is a special 3 p.m. matinee showing on June 9. Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 and under. Special pricing for seniors, students, and military/first responders. Reservations aren’t required but it is a good idea.

Bass Pro Shop Gone Fishing Event, June 8-9 and 15-16

Before you head to the lake this summer to snag the “big one” reel in some great tips and tricks from experts in the field. During this family-friendly event learn everything from choosing the right fishing equipment to how to fish with kids. It takes place from 1 -4 p.m. during both weekends at the Round Rock location. Whether you or a family member are a first-timer or an avid angler there’s plenty of fun on tap. Workshops, seminars, kid’s crafts and activities, a free catch and release pond, giveaways, and much more. Take dad on June 16 for a perfect Father’s Day outing.

11th Annual Juneteenth Rhythm and Ribs Festival, June 14 and 15

This free event offers families the opportunity to experience some great local music and mouth-watering ribs. It takes place at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock and kicks-off on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Festivities begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday and runs until midnight. Admission is free. However, there is a $5 parking fee. Music all day on Saturday, a barbecue contest, moonwalks, games, food, vendors, and much more.

Father’s Day Concert in the Park, June 16

Austin’s Symphonic Band pays tribute to all dads from 7:30 to 9 p.m. with a free concert at Zilker Hillside Theater, 2206 Barton Drive. Patriotic marches, familiar melodies, and toe-tapping oldies. The perfect venue to end your Father’s Day celebration. Blankets, picnic baskets and lawn chairs welcome. Cedar Park’s Free Concert in the Park, June 21

Join the city of Cedar Park from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Milburn Park soccer fields for a great evening of music under the stars by the Austin Party Band. This popular crowd-pleasing high energy eight-member band has a play list like no other. From Motown to Maroon 5 to Lady Gaga, Meghan Trainor, and even Garth Brooks they play it all. Bring a picnic basket and your family and friends for a musical good time. The event is sponsored by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Stonewall’s Peach JAMboree and Rodeo, June 20-22

The Texas Hill Country community of Stonewall rolls out the welcome mat for three days during this 58th annual event celebrating the peach harvest. You’ll have a sweet of a peach time sinking your teeth into this fresh velvety fruit. Peach cobblers and homemade ice cream, too. Thursday night and daytime activities are free. After 6 p.m. on June 21 and 22 there is an admission fee to attend the rodeo and dance. Tickets prices vary. A parade, contests, food, music and kid’s activities. If you didn’t get your fill of peaches during the festival then stop at one of many vendors lined up along U.S. 290 and purchase a bushel for home. On Sunday, make a day of it and head over to Johnson City’s Antique Engine and Tractor Pull. The 15 mile drive is worth it.

Austin FC Bold vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks, June 29

If you haven’t seen Austin’s new soccer team play now’s the time. Take the family to a soccer game at the Bold Stadium, a family-friendly venue located across from the Grand Plaza at Circuit of Americas. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the team’s website.
