7 Spooktastic Halloween Fun To-do Events This Month

Happy Halloween! Hooray for this great holiday where it’s all about having fun. Costumes, parties, goblins, princesses, and superheroes to name a few. And plenty of prizes and sweet surprises too. The good news is that Halloween isn’t just a one-day holiday anymore. Many events are stretched out throughout the month of October which means there is much more fun to be had. To get you in the spirit of Halloween and fall we gathered up some great events with plenty of fun on the agenda. Check them out below. 

Fall Festivals and Halloween Hauntings

The Harvest of Fall Fun, ongoing – Nov. 10, Sweet Berry Farms, Marble Falls. Enjoy a day in the country and hopefully some cooler weather when you visit Sweet Berry Farms. During the fall season this working farm offers a multitude of activities. From hayrides to train rides, corn mazes, pumpkin painting and make your own scarecrow there’s something to do for everyone in the family. There is no parking or admission fees. Pfall Chili Pfest, October 19, Noon-5 p.m., downtown Pflugerville. Taste and vote for your favorite bowl of red during the city of Pflugerville’s 12th annual Chili Pfest. It features a chili cook-off, live music, vendors, food and drink, a car show, a jalapeno and pickle eating contests, and a kid’s activity area. To taste and vote for your favorite you’ll need to purchase package of 10 two-oz. cups and spoons for $5.

Dark Harvest Haunted Halloween, Oct. 18-19, 25-27 and Oct. 31, Pioneer Farms, Austin. This Austin area annual Haunted Halloween Trail festival on the grounds of historic Pioneer Farms runs for six nights from 7-11 p.m. nightly. The Halloween extravaganza features a Ghost Run Haunted Trail, family fun activities on Scream Street, a pumpkin carving contest, live music in the historic dance hall, ghost stories by experienced storytellers, and so much more. It’s Austin’s legendary Halloween experience for all ages and one you definitely won’t want to miss.

A Spooky Halloween Run and Family Fun

Spooky Sprint Austin, Oct. 19, Brushy Creek Lake Park, Cedar Park. Make physical activity a family affair during this inaugural Halloween themed chip-timed race. Everyone in the family can participate because there’s a race for every level including a 1K for the kids and a 5K and 10K. Wearing a costume the day of the race is part of the fun. The registration fee includes great swag and an after-party like no other with free photos, kids face painting, a costume contest, free kids dash, great post-race food, and a ton of Halloween fun for everyone.

Halloween at the Y, Oct. 19, 3-8 p.m., Twin Lakes Family YMCA, Cedar Park. Join the folks at the YMCA for this Halloween family-friendly event with a multitude of awesome activities. It features vendor trick-or-treating, games, bounce houses, karaoke, slime craft, cupcake decorating and giveaways. But there’s so much more including a costume fashion show, a free selfie photo booth, a family talent show, and food concessions (available at additional cost). This community event is free and open to the public.

Halloween Events in Leander

Leander Pet Spooktacular, Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Kohl’s parking lot, Leander. This Leander Police Department sponsored event features vendors, pet treat bags, a pet costume contest, and a kids play zone. Other highlights include free pet microchips for Leander and Williamson County residents and low cost vaccinations for dogs and cats. Pet adoptions will also be available. 8th Annual Trunk or Treat, Oct. 31, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Camacho Elementary parking lot, Leander. Kids can trick or treat safely during this fun event sponsored by the Leander Police Department. Trunk or Treat features costume competitions, a car show and tricks, treats and plenty of sweets. During the event the Leander PD will collect new unwrapped toys to kick-off the start of the Blue Santa program. The event is free and open to the entire community.
